About
Fights about the directions, finances, and kids, can become minefields when we’re not on the same team. Some couples end up stuck on the minefield, dealing with one explosion after another, while others begin to avoid the minefield, and each other, entirely. Weathering storms, differences, and perpetual problems are possible when we feel important to one another. When our emotional connection is strong, our relationship is strong. However, when our emotional connects erodes, whether over time or suddenly, relationship distress sets in. Feeling like we can’t count on one another limits our ability to work through challenges together, even small bumps in the road.
I can help couples learn a whole new way of responding and repairing with one another to keep their connection strong. With over twenty years experience in couples therapy, as well as having taugh Marriage & Family Therapy for ten years, I am trained in many models and, let's face it, I have met with thousands of couples over the decades. I am also trained in the latest neuroscience on adult attachment and emotional regulation to help couples rebuild their emotional connection.
Every day I get to sit with extremely capable, hard-working, good folks who also happen to be in a lot of pain. We live in a high-achieving, fast-paced area, facing tremendous pressure to be the perfect couple, family, and partner. The simple act of sharing our real struggles with one another is powerful, but so few of us actually do - so many of us bear the weight on our own. Every time a couple shares with me the hard and scary parts in their relationship, I’m honored.
