I have been trained in and worked with The Gestalt Cape Cod Model of Couples Therapy for many years and now have been trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Both are process and experientially oriented therapies. EFT is the work of Dr. Sue Johnson’s and uses emotion to support secure bonding for the couple. It’s theoretical base comes from humanistic-experimental, systemic, and attachment perspectives. The goals of EFT are to expand constricted emotional responses that prime negative interaction patterns, to restructure interactions so that partners become more accessible and responsive to each other and to foster positive cycles of comfort and caring.
