While it is necessary to acknowledge problems and illnesses, it is important to emphasize clients' resources, strengths, and problem solving abilities. For more than 30 years, I've been providing therapy in a holistic and integrative manner. I believe therapy should help clients achieve the greatest long-lasting relief in the shortest amount of time possible. Also, I have been personally trained by John Gray, author of Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus. I also integrate the many excellent lessons from the Gottman Institute. I have been a long time follower Ericksonian and solution oriented approaches to counseling.
Clients are treated as unique individuals in a supportive atmosphere. A cooperative effort between the clients and the therapist is established to achieve the goals of the clients. Clients deserve to be treated with respect. Differences based on gender, culture, and other factors need to be accepted and honored.
We'll work together to decide on the goals you want to achieve. We will discuss what will be required of you to achieve those goals as well as what you can expect. I work in an active manner and clients are expected to be actively involved in achieving their goals. If you have had previous experience with therapy counseling or coaching, we will discuss how that has been helpful or not helpful.
My expertise has grown over the years and I'm continually working on new counseling techniques. I've worked with classic techniques and I have mastered newer techniques as well, including the latest lessons from neuroscience as well as mind body approaches such as hypnosis and energy psychology. Many of these ideas are found in my new book: We're No Fun Anymore: Helping Couples Cultivate Joyful Relationships.
