About
We all face challenges in our lives that can be overwhelming and painful. From my perspective, counseling is a collaborative journey that we embark on with the intent of discovering your strengths as well as finding tools to meet those challenges and overcome them. I consider it a privilege to join you on your first steps towards discovering your inner strengths and resilience. My approach to therapy is to provide a safe space to allow us to collaborate to identify the challenges you are struggling with and to identify patterns that may be roadblocks to becoming your best version of yourself.
Specialization:
I work with individuals, families, and couples who are experiencing anxiety, depression, crisis, at-risk adolescent behavior, stress, ADHD, autism, self-esteem, trauma, behavioral issues, and relationship needs. My approach is rooted in evidence-based practices integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), person-centered approaches, mindfulness, and behavior analysis.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at San Jose State University. I later graduated from Santa Clara University with my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. I have received training in behavior analysis, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness. Prior to joining Nugent Family Counseling Center, I worked at the non-profit organization Uplift Family Services, formerly EMQ, as a facilitator for their wraparound and crisis programs. I have also worked in schools as a clinician providing individual and group counseling. Throughout my years providing counseling, I have worked with a broad array of challenges with clients of all ages in private practice, schools, and in the community. Currently, I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and I am registered in the state of California as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I am supervised by a Licensed Therapist. My supervisor is Carlos Aguila, PPSC, MPH, LCSW #75033.
