The last time I was in therapy and talked about life-changing events my therapist sat nodded, when I left my thought was “that was not helpful at all, if I wanted to not have direction I would have talked to my mirror.” I do not want you to have that same experience, I am going to be an active participant in your treatment. You won’t have to wonder what’s going through my head as I listen to you because ultimately I’m going to tell you. I’m not gonna tell you what to do but I’m going to help guide you to find the right path for yourself. Therapy is scary enough without wondering what your therapist is thinking about you. Therapy is a time commitment, financial commitment, and an emotional commitment. You shouldn’t have to be in therapy for the rest of your life.
