Dr. Aileen Fullchange
About
As a psychologist, I have the deep honor of joining my clients on their journeys toward healing and leading more meaningful and fulfilling lives. This journey involves a combination of traditional talk therapy, including gathering information about your family and ancestors' history, strengths-based approaches to help you remember/re-learn your innate worth and resilience, and cognitive behavioral approaches. I also integrate experiential and body-based / somatic techniques, because the body often tell us what we need before the mind does and because I am committed to decolonizing the therapy space by inviting ancestral traditions that integrate mind and body. Above and beyond these techniques, though, I focus on the healing powers of collaboration and empowerment. Think of me as someone who carries a searchlight with you on your journey, helping you see and understand more clearly how you got to where you are, decide where you want to go next, and figure out how to get to there. I may have some expertise, but ultimately you are the expert on your own journey.
I love working with folx with intersecting identities (e.g. BIPOC, queer, adoptee, etc.) across the lifespan, from pre-teens and up in individual, couples/relational, and family therapy. While I work with a range of concerns, I am most passionate about helping people find resilience from difficult and traumatic experiences, whether that is a single difficult incident or intergenerational trauma.
I have experience working with couples and relationships at all relationship stages. I hold certifications in Gottman Level I and II couples therapy. The focus of couples sessions with me is increasing insight and empathy between partners as well as developing day-to-day communication skills and healthy relationship habits. Although most sessions will be with both partners, part of couples treatment might also involve individual sessions to support each partner with their own unique journey toward healthy relationship dynamics.
