I believe that marriage is a partnership and each person needs to constantly cosider the needs of their spouse. In my experience, many factors can contribute to marriage problems: communication, value differences, financial concerns, parenting and sexual issues (to name a few). I work with couples to focus on using their strengths and to address any areas that may need improvement. Sometimes, I need to see the couple indivudally for at least one session to have better understaning of what each brings to the relationship. Marriage counseling tends to be short-term and many of the couples I see are coming for pre-marital counseling. I believe that marriage counseling is one of the best ways to invest in your relationship.
