Aloha. My name is Chris "The Counselor". I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and welcome you to my ohana-style private practice called Self Help Hawaii, LLC in beautiful Honolulu, Hawai`i.

As a child from a broken, blended, mental but mended family, I really enjoy what I do whether its over the phone, internet, in my community, outreach, or in my office in Waikiki, YOU are my focus. Over the years, I have witnessed countless individuals, couples, families, organizations on the brink only to make baby steps toward inspiring comebacks. For many of them, it was making a routine of scheduling time with me or one of my fantastic, highly, selfless team-mates.

In counseling sessions, we go at YOUR pace and hope your and/or your loved ones leave with renewed perspectives, hope, purpose (sometimes laughter). Some sessions we sort out seemingly overwhelming thoughts, "e-motions" and may propose and/or practice some techniques some inspired by combat vets labeled with PTSD. This is YOUR time and many leave our sessions filled with big or small-inspiration, ideas to try out, or sometimes clients just need to vent. That is okay, because, as long as we ALL understand that SAFETY is #1.

ALL are welcome to Self Help Hawaii where, if you want, we provide a guide to help us slow it down, assess our unique wants, needs, routines and remember our strengths, achievements, and things that put smiles on our face, giving us a little room to hope for a better future. That future may be a better relationship. That relationship may be with yourself, your loved one, your finances, your relationship with God and/or The Universe-where change is the only constant. So whether it is a small or major change, when a door slams in your face, God/The Universe opens a window. One window of opportunity for a struggling same-sex couple was a tweak to their routine-compliments before criticism-which was inspired by another couple I had worked with. The same-sex couple gave the routine a creative spin and now I share that one too. :)
